Snowbird Adaptive Sports

Embracing the Challenge!

Wasatch Adaptive Sports (www.wasatchadaptivesports.org), was established in 1977. The purpose of our organization is to provide recreational, educational and therapeutic programs to children, adults and their families with special needs. Our programs provide numerous forms of therapy and build confidence and self-esteem, while providing a fun, social environment to ensure the children and adults are comfortable in their surroundings. Wasatch Adaptive Sports interacts directly with doctors and therapists from Primary Children’s Medical Center, Shriners Hospital for Children, the University of Utah Rehabilitation Medicine Department, and many other organizations and individuals to provide the highest quality services available at a reasonable cost to the participant; scholarships are available to make sure all can participate. Activities provided include winter skiing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and adaptive hockey. Summer activities include hiking on our Barrier Free Trail, playing on the “Forever Young Zone” Boundless Playground, biking, fishing, camping, plant and wildlife identification programs, GPS and orienteering instruction, and Tram and activity rides. We also offer therapeutic horseback riding, bowling and many environmental, interactive and educational programs on a year-round basis. With a mission of “Reaching Out to Make a Difference,” Wasatch Adaptive Sports reaches approximately 2,000 participants through its year-round programs.

Please call us for winter or summer program information, scholarship applications or to reserve your lesson!

The 23rd Steve Young Ski Classic

The 23rd Annual Steve Young Ski Classic will bring an impressive group of NFL players, Olympians and Paralympians to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort Saturday, March 7, 2009 to ski and raise money for Wasatch Adaptive Sports programs.

Former San Francisco 49er Steve Young headlines a group of NFL players and Olympians who will be on hand skiing in a fun race against Wasatch Adaptive Sports participants in a dual giant slalom format on Snowbird’s Gad Valley Race Hill beginning at 10:00 a.m. There is no fee to watch this event, accessed from Snowbird’s Entry 1 or 2.

Presented by the Forever Young Foundation, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and American Airlines, the Steve Young Ski Classic includes an evening fund-raiser at the Cliff Lodge with a silent and live auction, awards, dinner and a participant program. The live and silent auctions will include international vacations, ski packages and more. Many famous NFL players, Olympians and Paralympians will join Young for the event. Advance reservations are required.

Some of our sponsors include the Forever Young Foundation, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, American Airlines, Chase, John Bryne Family Foundation, Ballard Spahr Andrews and Ingersoll, Alta Ski Area and many others.

All funds raised during the Steve Young Ski Classic directly benefit Wasatch Adaptive Sports. This event offers a thrilling opportunity to have fun, while promoting your company and supporting a very special program. We hope you will choose to support our program.
